There are a lot of yellow dresses out there at the moment – which will slowly transition back into Mustard and Maroon for Autumn 2012 in Australia.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve definitely seen some lemons lately – with some tones of yellow which should have been left on the rack. So how do you wear yellow to suit your skin tone?

If you have warm toned hair, avoid orangey yellows. If you’re fair, try pastel yellows, and maybe even head towards some mustards. If you’re a dark beauty, go warm yellow, it’ll give you a bronze glow.

What ever you do – avoid cool yellows, cheap sepid colours and too much shiny yellow – unless you want to look like you’re wearing a big old raincoat.

Being off work, at home sick – means watching kids TV can sometimes happen. It can also lead to amazing revelations. Firstly, kids get a lot of stuff advertised to them. Lots of random toys and things that seem quite – useless. And ridiculous.
But, I did see one thing – The Crayola Colour Explosion Glow Book. And now I want one!! Check out this vid…

My head is already spinning with the very practical outcomes that this could achieve within my working environment.. Or I could just make pretty pictures.

It Could Break Glass

Over the last 6 months I’ve been making an effort to re-discover the hypnotic bliss that results from the success of uncovering a new band. A good band, built on talent, rather than hipster-cred.
Unlike the effect that is achieved from the current Underbelly promo and it’s abuse of the beautiful Adele song “Rolling In The Deep”, the result of repetitive listening to aforementioned “good band” is that of smugness.. Smugness because you know this band exists – just before the rest of the world. And although you do wish them success – you still revel in the fact that they’re you’re little secret, for a little while.
So, now I know what the Universal A&R rep feels like after signing this little ditty, Glass Towers.

Fresh out of school, these kids from Byron Bay were the highlight of my night when they supported Pajama Party (Neil Finn & Family’s new project)..
They’ll probably be chiming into your Saturday morning on Video Hits, sooner rather than later. Have a crack.

The windows of Sydney’s CBD are awash with colour. On a freezing Winter morning, it feels like Spring is captured behind glass windows – abstract and distant.
When it’s 2 degrees, it’s hard to think about wearing a fuschia jacket teamed with a royal blue skirt.. but.. soon the time will come, and you’ll get your white legs out and don an orange skirt, green shirt and blue jacket – all in the name of fashion.
The devoted few will be buying now, with the foresight that within a few weeks – maybe, just maybe it’ll be acceptable to look like a walking Mondrian.

Spring has officially arrived! Although only the brave thus-far have appeared on the streets bare-legged.

I’ve been having a think about what sort of things will start gracing the streets of Sydney – if they haven’t yet.

The big thing in stores currently is an influx of floral prints. If you’re brave you’ll team floral, with floral, with as much floral as you can find. Or a slightly safer option – to team with a some distressed acid washed denim.

I’m still egging on the man shoe.. and the mockasin. Here’s a beautiful mix of the two, with a feminine twist from 80%20 Shoes’ Spring ’10 collection from NYC.

This time last year I was in NYC for Fashion week – checking out all the beautiful pastels and ice cream shades that will definitely make an impact this Australian Spring/Summer season. As we’ve come full circle Spring 2011 is just starting in NYC – so I can’t wait to see what’s in the pipeline for later in the season.

Hopefully my spies send me home some hot tips.

It’s Spring, Get Your Double D’s Out

Last Friday I donned a double denim outfit to work – and needless to say, the backlash was palpable.

Indigo denim shirt, and pale denim skirt.

Maybe it was too soon, but Spring has sprung, and the Canadian Tuxedo is making a mid-season come back.

I think i’ll shun taking this to the next level though, not a clog in sight.

We’ve already seen a rise and fall of tights as pants… but where to next?

I’ve had many a conversation around my tie dyed tights, mainly based on the “it feels like I’m wearing nothing at all” level, but I have a feeling, that over summer – we’re going to be embracing the spandex Lady Ga Ga styles.

What does this mean for you? Get back in the gym.

The Ultimate Fashion Moccasin

I’ve been laughed at multiple times, and friends have refused to comment on my new ‘thing’ – boat shoes, moccasins and basically any kind of old man shoe I can get my hands on.

In September ’09 the fetish was starting to blossom on NYC – when it’ll reach our shoes, Winter ’10 or Winter ’11 is anyone’s guess.

In a corner in Thailand whimsical thoughts are being made into amazing jewellery at a little place called The Apple Tree.

I’m loving many of their pieces, but am particularly enamoured to the Weapons of Choice collection. I’ve always had a thing for rabbits.. Is that normal?
